Another New Day

It's great to be back on my bike. It's been a while ... after last week's rides, we went camping last weekend and I didn't get on the bike. And then this week in Orchard Park was rainy -- I know I may have to ride in the rain this summer, but I'm not quite in the mood to do it just to get in a training ride.

Pastor Todd & I rode about 19 miles together -- went to Bert's Bikes to check out some stuff.

As of today, we've raised just over $300 for Roswell. It's great to be a part of the success that is Roswell Park Cancer Institute -- also great to be investing in such an important research issue.

I'm currently trying to talk to churches along our ADK bike trip route so that we can camp in the church yards while we travel. I've confirmed our stay at one of the churches and hope to confirm the others in the coming week.

On Wednesday, I fitted my bike with rear panniers. Pastor Todd was good enough to share from his stock of racks & bags. Last summer, he did a trip with his son and his son's friend all the way to Acadia National Park in Maine (from Orchard Park); a little over 600 miles. I'll start loading up the panniers during my rides over the coming weeks to get used to riding with some weight.
